Gavita Master Controller EL2 Gen2 - Hydroponic Lighting
Regular price R6,500.00 Sale price R4,900.00 Save 25%Gavita Master Controller EL2 Gen2
Lighting control at your fingertips! The Master controller EL1 and EL2 Gen2 are our entry-level systems for centrally controlling large rooms with e-series fixtures. The second generation of Master controllers features improved and expanded functionality that raises the bar:
- Non-volatile memory
- Event logging
- Independent sunrise and sunset settings
- Independent light cycles on the EL2
Switch, dim and boost centrally
Now you have complete control over the light cycle and the output of your fixtures from one single point. Never reach to a ballast again!
Simple programming
Setting up the controller is a breeze, with a 5 language text interface in plain language on a high quality OLED display.
Independent light cycles on EL2 models
Allowing to program two different, and overlapping cycles, for example, a 12/12 on channel 1 and an 18/6 on channel 2.
Logging
The logging functionality provides insight in the current and past status of your lights and alarms.
Logging functions for high/low temperature, last autodim event, last shutdown event and last power loss.
Separate sunrise/sunset
Set different times for sunrise and sunset.
Crop safety - autodim
In extreme conditions the Master Controller automatically dims your lights, so your plants will survive the high heat.
Memory
Nonvolatile memory to store user settings.
Easy installation
The complete installation is plug-and-play. Every e-series fixture comes with all necessary cables to install it on the e-series control bus.
Crop protection – auto-shutdown
When cooling or ventilation fails, the Master Controller automatically switches off your lights, preventing imminent damage to your crop (or worse).
Independent programmable ECMs (External Contactor Modules)
The ECMs (External Contactor Modules) are used to switch on or off auxiliary equipment during the lights-on or lights-off period. In the GEN2 EL2 controllers you can now choose whether they switch on or off, and which channel they should follow. This allows for flexible integration and automation.
More information
Gen 2 improvements
Memory – All master controllers use dependable, non-volatile memory to store user settings.
Logging – All master controllers now have logging functions for high/low temperature, last auto-dim event, last shutdown event and last power loss, including the event’s date and time
Separate sunrise/sunset control – Set different periods for sunrise and sunset
Independent cycles on EL2 models – These cycles let you program two different, overlapping cycles (for example, a 12/12 on channel 1 and an 18/6 on channel 2).
Independent programmable External Contactor Modules (ECMs) – In Gen 2 EL2 controllers, now you can choose whether they switch on or off and which channel they follow. The results? Flexible integration and automation.
Easy
The Master Controllers are extremely easy to set-up. The two-line green OLED display is sharp and easy to read, even in a high light intensity environment, and all menu items are in plain text. The 4-button control of the menu system is intuitive. A special fifth button is added to directly set the output of your fixtures. Red and blue LEDs show you the output status of your controller ports and give you a quick view of any errors.
The wiring system is plug-and-play with all the cables you need already included with each e-series fixture. The manual describes how you can make custom cables for any length. Different lengths of control cables are available as original Gavita accessories. Be aware that the Gen 2 Master controller comes with a 15 V power cord which differs from the 5 V power cord that is being used with Gen 1 Master controllers. You can find more information on how to connect your fixtures to our controller here: Single Bus vs. Repeater Bus
The controller is easy to mount with the supplied bracket. Two screws are all you need to install it and the controller clicks right in. This enables you easy access to the wiring at the bottom of the controller.
Safe
The most important and valued features of the Master controller are the temperature safety features. Your lamps will automatically dim when your climate control is no longer able to maintain the correct temperature. Or will even shut down your lamps when a maximum temperature is reached. These features have saved many crops already!
The control signal is a safe, analog and low voltage signal, and the controller is protected from signal shortcuts in the wiring. Wiring faults will not kill your controller.
Last but not least, the EL2 offers you alarm contacts (NO and NC) to seamlessly integrate your controller in your alarm and monitoring systems. Whenever there is a calamity (power outage, emergency shutdown or sensor failure) the alarm contacts will switch, notifying you of the fact that you need to take action.
Flexible
Whether you control two fixtures or 1000, the Master Controller will do the job. Standard, each output channel can control 40 fixtures (Single Bus e-series) up to 500 fixtures (Repeater Bus e-series), without the addition of booster modules.
The EL2 has even more features. On top of the double output ports, you can connect our ECM units which allow you to switch auxiliary equipment, such as CO2 units and heaters, during the lights-on and light-off periods.
We have a wide range of original Gavita accessories available, ranging from a booster to expand the number of single bus e-series fixtures with 200 fixtures each, to cables, splitters, and long lead temperature sensors.
Sexy
The anodized aluminum extrusion housing is rugged and compact. No more standard grey plastic installation boxes with cluttered buttons and lights. The controller is compact, clean, and some even find it sexy.

Gavita Pro 6/750e DE Flex Complete Fixture - Hydroponic Lighting
Regular price R7,500.00 Sale price R6,650.00 Save 11%Gavita Pro 6/750e Double Ended Flex Complete Fixture
The ‘e’ in ‘e-series’ stands for external control. These fixtures can be controlled centrally by a Gavita Master controller. This replaces the often cumbersome installation with contactors and clocks, and adds safety features such as automatic dimming of your lights at high temperatures and even a safety shutdown. Gavita were the first to launch a double ended 1000W HPS lamp in this market, and were also the first to introduce a double ended 750W HPS lamp. This lamp bridges the gap between a 600W single ended, and a 1000W double ended fixture.
Complete fixture
The integration of ballast and reflector results in a compact fixture. No external lamp wires results in low EMI, which makes it easier to comply with FCC regulations. All our fixtures are FCC compliant.
Balanced fixture
The fixture is balanced, so it can be mounted by just two hanging points. This enables much easier installation by brackets from C-profiles for example.
Horticultural design
Our fixture is not a contraption of a remote ballast and reflector: it is a fixture designed as a complete fixture. The high quality white coating is durable and UV resistant. All the terminals are sealed with gaskets and contact and terminals are high quality.
400V lamp technology for high frequency electronic ballast
The high voltage lamp technology results in a better efficiency of the arc tube: more light for the same power (10-25% more than traditional single ended lamps)! These lamps are best suited for extreme high frequency electronic ballasts, creating a stable arc without acoustic resonance, assuring optimal output and a long lamp life. The smaller arc tube and outer balloon require the lamp to be nitrogen filled instead of vacuum, which prohibits it to be air cooled. Air cooling of the lamp results in lower lamp temperature, which results in sub-optimal light output, up to 15% less than specified. Therefore these lamps are not suitable for direct air cooled fixtures.
More Information
In many rooms you just don’t have the height to run a 1000W fixture at 100%, and in other rooms you don’t need the intensity. Running a 1000W lamp at 750W all the time is a not a desirable situation as the lamp does not come to its full efficiency and the spectrum deteriorates. In those situations the 6/750 DE FLEX is the ideal solution, more efficient, cheaper and with a much better spectrum. We call it the 6//750 as the efficiency of the lamp, dimmed to 600W, is still really good: as good as any other 600W industry standard HPS lamp.
With the 750W lamp you can come almost a ft closer to your crop (a bit less in overlapping plans).
The fixture comprises of a ballast, reflector and lamp in one complete compact package. Made according to horticultural standards, the housing of the ballast is sealed and contains a gore-tex® plug to ventilate the housing, while keeping dust and humidity out.
Ballast output is either controlled by the Gavita Master controllers, or an external switch, allowing it to be adjusted to 400, 500, 600, 750 W, and 825 W boosted output. The Master Controller can centrally control the output hundreds of fixtures in a range between 375 and 825 W output power. Using the Master controller safeguards your valuable crop by the added auto-dim and auto-shutdown features, and completely automates your light control.
The high frequency ballast was specifically designed for the Gavita double ended HPS lamp, resulting in an accurate, optimal output, a stable burning lamp and a better light maintenance over time. The ballast is not suitable to run Metal Halide lamps.
The reflector is replaceable (we recommend to do this every year to two years) and there is a choice of replacement reflectors:
- The HR96 DE for overlapping configurations, assuring optimal uniformity and penetration. This is the industry standard reflector delivered with the fixture.
- The W 150 DE for wide configurations, where uniformity and lower light levels are required in large rooms. 150 degrees beam angle, for double ended lamps.
- The M 110 DE SR for applications in single rows and small rooms, where a single reflector needs to create uniformity and high light levels. 110 degrees beam angle, for double ended lamps.
The spread of the Pro 6//750 with the HR96 DE reflector is about 3×4.5 ft (90×135 cm) at 2.5 ft distance in overlapping plans, providing light levels of up to 1000 µmol s-1 m-2.
The fixture’s light source is a Gavita Pro 750W double ended HPS lamp, generating 1450 µmol s-1 of light. With a light maintenance of over 96% per 5000 hours you only need to replace it once a year.
Mounting is easy because the fixture is balanced and only requires two hanging points.

FAQs:
Q: Why should I choose LED lighting rather than HID lighting?
A: The advantages of LED are clear. There is little heat output from LED lights, and so heat management is much simpler. Also, the power consumed relative to the light output is far less with an LED fixture than with a HID lamp. With some types of LED light, the spectrum is adjustable to suit either grow or bloom, which is never the case with HID lamps. Other types of LED, such as this LUMii BLACK fixture, give full spectrum light suited to both grow and bloom stages, which is not always the case with HID lamps. An LED Fixture gives a much more even spread of light across the canopy, whereas HID lighting must be reflected from a narrow central source – the lamp.
Q: At what height should I hang my LUMii BLACK LED Fixture?
A: We recommend that you should hang your fixture adjustably, using LUMii Rope Ratchets, and that you set the fixture at around 30-50cm (minimum 15cm) above the canopy, adjusting the height as your plants grow. If, for your plants, the light is too intense and the plants show signs of stress, raise the fixture a little, or select a lower power setting on the ballast.
Q: Where should I place the LUMii BLACK 600W Electronic Ballast to power the LED Fixture?
A: There are 2 options:
1.The Ballast may be fitted to the LED Fixture using the brackets and fixings supplied.
2.The Ballast may be positioned remotely (up to 10M away) from the LED Fixture using an LUMii Extension/ Link Lead (stock arriving soon).
Option 1 is simpler and requires no extra components. However, the heat emitted by the ballast will tend to contribute to the ambient temperature of the growing environment during the light / growing period of the day.
Option 2 requires the purchase of LUMii Extension/ Link Leads (refer to fixture instructions to select these), but if the ballast is positioned remotely then the heat management of the growing environment is easier, and the Ballast and LED Fixture can be controlled without entry to or disturbance of the grow room.

Advantages of CDM
Provide broadest spectrum
Ceramic metal halide lamps work by heating up a ceramic tube within the bulb. Ceramic can withstand much higher temperatures than other media typically used in lights. This higher temperature results in the bulb creating a plasma-like light source similar to the sun. Since the light emitted from a CMH is akin to natural sunlight, its spectrum is closer to that of natural sunlight, so that plants exposed to CMH light are getting a wider range of wavelengths of usable light than other types of grow lights can produce.
Best CRI colour rendering index
CMH lights provide the highest measures of colour rendering index (CRI) as compared to other grow lights. Objects that are fully visible in natural, unobstructed light appear to the human eye with a CRI of 100. Artificial lighting does not reproduce the same light as the sun, but CMH bulbs come very close, with CRI ratings ranging between a low of 80 to a high of 96.
Provide UV Lighting
CMH bulbs, as a function of offering a fuller spectrum of light, provide significantly more ultraviolet light than many other types of grow lights. Plants thrive during their vegetative stages with this type of light and it aids in the development of stronger branches.
Colour Stability
Unlike various other types of grow lights, CMH bulbs provide a consistent quality and duration of light throughout their useful life. Many types of grow lights lose effectiveness over time that may not be evident to the human eye; CMH bulbs retain their wide spectrum.
More Efficient
This is subject depending on what is being compared and for the duration that the bulb is in use, but CMH bulbs are up to 20 per cent more efficient than other types of metal halide bulbs. The yield per watt of CMH bulbs is higher.
Longer Lasting
This is another subjective benefit, but CMH bulbs do last longer than halogen and incandescent lights. They have been confirmed to run as long as 24,000 hours (almost 3 years).
Produce Less Heat
Though they operate at higher temperatures, CMH bulbs emit less heat than other types of bulbs. This is important in smaller grow rooms, where a grow light may contribute to temperatures that are too high for efficient growth and yields. It also means that the bulb itself can be closer to the plant, reducing the chance of burning the leaves which is a possibility with some other types of grow lights.
No Electromagnetic Interference
The ceramic in CMH bulbs does not interfere with electronics such as cell phones or television signals the way that some other types of grow lights or electronic ballasts can. This is not only a convenience, but helps to avoid detection if the intent of a grow room is to keep a low profile.
