Tigridia Pavonia — Tiger Flower Mixed Colour | 15 Bulbs

Exotic, flamboyant, and utterly unlike anything else in the summer garden — the Tigridia pavonia, commonly known as the Tiger Flower or Shell Flower, is one of nature’s most spectacular creations. Each bloom consists of three large, bold outer petals in vivid mixed colours — reds, pinks, oranges, yellows, and whites — with a dramatically contrasting spotted centre that gives the flower its distinctive tiger-like character. Each individual flower is short-lived, often blooming for just a single day, but multiple flowers emerge from the same stalk in succession, ensuring a continuous and captivating display throughout the season.

Native to the Western Hemisphere from Mexico to Chile, Tigridia belongs to the iris family and grows from corms that are dormant during the winter dry season. In the South African summer garden, they thrive in warm, sunny positions with well-drained soil and reward consistent watering with a succession of extraordinary blooms from December through to February.
