Acacia is a genus of shrubs and trees belonging to the subfamily Mimosoideae of the family Fabaceae.
A tree often branching near its base growing to 15 m with a flattened or rounded crown or a multistemmed shrub to 3-4 meters high with a spreading rounded crown. Like tortilis it has both hooked and long straight thorns . Occurs in tree and shrub savannahs typically on Kalahari sands.
