Chasmanthe is a genus of flowering plants in the iris family which originate from South Africa. In their native habitat the flowers are pollinated by sunbirds. The genus name is derived from the Greek words chasme, meaning "gaping", and anthos, meaning "flower".

Growing up to 60cm and with broad leaves this bulb produces attractive scarlet to orange flowers. Best planted in autumn for late winter through early summer blooming.
