The feathery foliage is used fresh and is added to salads and soups. Seeds flavour cookies, candies, cheese spreads, applesauce and soups. The sweet licorice-like flavour of both the seeds and leaves make a comforting tea that has traditionally been employed as a treatment for asthma, bronchitis, sore throats, indigestion, and flatulence. Seeds can be chewed to freshen breath. Umbrella like clusters of tiny white flowers appear in late spring and early summer and attract butterflies and a host of beneficial insects including bees. Seed heads attract birds. Grows to 2-3 feet tall.
